World Championship Gumbo Cookoff Returns to New Iberia

The World Championship Gumbo Cookoff will be making its return to New Iberia in October.

The 31st annual event has come a long way since the first handful of chefs participated in the inaugural event in 1989.

After last year's virtual festival, things return closer to "normal" this year with the theme "The Wizard of Roux Returns".

The Iberia Chamber of Commerce website has links for team registration, poster contest registration, FAQs, and more general information about the event.

The scheduled date is October 9 and 10, and the festival is scheduled to return to Bouligny Plaza in downtown New Iberia.

Some of the virtual events that took place last year will continue this year, including online merchandise and virtual cooking demonstrations.

I don't know about you, but I am ready for more in-person festivals and music events to cure my cabin fever! Thank you, New Iberia, for making this announcement and giving us something to look forward to!
