Victims of Hurricane Laura may go weeks without electricity. Many have lost everything but the clothes they were wearing when Hurricane Laura made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane early Thursday. Residents who rode out the storm and those returning are missing one modern convenience that a lot of people never think about after a catastrophic event such as Hurricane Laura...clean clothes.

Hurricane Laura victims are in a dire situation. The Coronavirus pandemic has made it very difficult to find cleaning supplies since March. Add a catastrophic hurricane on top of that and supplies are virtually nonexistent.

With no electricity, up to 12 billion in losses, at least 14 deaths and homes leveled in and around the Lake Charles, Louisiana area... a washing machine and detergent are hard to find.

The American Red Cross (ARC) is on the ground in Southwest Louisiana and asks that you call (800) 229-8191 ext. 3130 for questions about becoming a volunteer or to donate clean clothing. You can also volunteer, make a monetary donation or receive information to help Louisiana victims of Hurricane Laura by visiting RedCross.org.
