Guests from the Acadiana Beekeepers Association will present a special class on beekeeping and honey harvesting during the third workshop of the 2014 Seed To Skillet on Saturday, September 27th. Seed To Skillet is a quarterly series focusing on the entire process of growing, harvesting, and preparing your own food. Seed To Skillet’ informative cooking and gardening workshops showcase living and eating in harmony with the seasons.

The theme of the September 27th event is ‘Bees: Beginning with the Queen and Finishing with the Mead,' which will feature members of the Acadiana Beekeepers Association as they teach participants how to start their own colony. Members of the Dead Yeast Society will demonstrate how to ferment mead from harvested honey. Participants 21 and older will be able to sample the mead, while all attendees will be given a recipe card to take home.

Admission for the Seed to Skillet series is $15 per adult; children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Anyone interested in participating is asked to register for this limited seating event by calling (337) 233-4077 or email cuisine@BayouVermilionDistrict.org.
