The University of Louisiana at Lafayette reported record enrollment last year. More than 17,000 students enrolled in the University a year ago. With the fall semester just a few weeks away, AP reports, UL may see a record Freshman class. The current record of 3,100 students was set in 1998. School officials attribute rising enrollment to an enhancement of the school's reputation through facility upgrades, a more selective admission policy, and successful sports teams.
