Tinder has announced that they will soon be launching a new feature that allows users to run background checks on their dates.

Tinder has partnered with Garbo, a non-profit background check company founded by women.

Tinder Background Check

According to KLFY.com, Garbo "collects public records and reports of violence and abuse, including arrests, convictions, restraining orders, harassment, and other violent crimes."

The overall idea is to provide a safer dating experience for Tinder users.

Last names are not needed for the background check, only a first name and a phone number.

Tinder says the Garbo background search function will be made available later in 2021.
