A press release from the Lafayette Consolidated Government notes that Mayor-President Josh Guillory has relieved Lafayette Police Chief Thomas Glover of his duties after less than a year of service. Guillory named Sergeant Wayne Griffin as Interim Police Chief.
Reports are saying that an arrest has been made following the pursuit of a stolen ambulance down I-10 West. Both Lafayette and Duson Police Departments were involved in the pursuit, with the chase ending in Crowley.
According to reports, Lafayette Police Officers are being told by superiors via a memo that they need to enforce parish panhandling laws or face discipline from the department. The memo comes after anti-panhandling signs were put up around the city earlier in the year.
Initial details say that a Lafayette Police officer was responding to a call at a local apartment complex in regards to a suicidal subject when the shooting occurred. Louisiana State Police is now investigating.

Lafayette Police are in search of two suspects that were involved in the theft of a woman's wallet at a local grocery store. According to reports, the victim was shopping when she was distracted by one of the suspects while the other suspect took the wallet out of the victim's purse.
