A test flight for SpaceX ended in an explosion of flames as the "Starship" capsule attempted to land in South Texas. The company and CEO Elon Musk hoped that this mission would be a big step forward in future crewed outer space missions.

According to the article in the above post, CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk knew that crash landing was a possibility with this mission. The important part was that crucial data could be gathered from the test flight that would further benefit the mission of the program.

Earlier in the year, I wrote a story about a SpaceX craft landing gracefully on a barge. Unfortunately, this mission did not go as smoothly as that one did.

I guess it is a good thing that Musk expected this mission to end with a bang, but I really hope he got all of the data he needed. I am guessing the capsule that was engulfed in flames cost a pretty penny.

What I am really intrigued by is the idea that Elon Musk has plans to send people to Mars and beyond. How soon that will actually happen is lightyears beyond my knowledge.

Hopefully, we will be able to look back at all of these past tests and say they were worth it once SpaceX is traveling throughout the galaxy.
