Should I Clean My BBQ Grill With An Onion?

Onions contain natural acids that can help break down the grime and grease on the grill grates. These acids can make the cleaning process easier and more thorough.

Using an onion is also a non-toxic and environmentally friendly way to clean your grill. Unlike harsh chemicals, onions are safe to use around food and won't leave any harmful residues behind.

Another bonus to using an onion to clean your BBQ grill is it can subtle flavor to the food cooked on it afterward.

While this might not be a primary reason for using an onion, it's an added bonus for some grill enthusiasts.

As you'll see in the video below, legend has it that all you need to do is get the grill hot,  then stick half of an onion on a fork and simply rub it all over the grill. It will reportedly clean all of the gunk from the grill.

This is pretty great because it's simple, safe, it can season the grill a little bit, and when you're done, you can just toss the onion on the coals for a smokey onion flavor.

According to the video, this works.

Have you ever cleaned your grill with an onion? Does it work, or it just a pile of bologna?
