Lafayette native Sean Bruce released his EP, entitled "Staring at Maps, Pt. 1" last week, and celebrated that release with a party at Feed N Seed.

One of the things I love about music is, when it's done properly, it has the ability to take you away, like a movie or a good book can.  Sean Bruce's music has that ability.

The show started with Sweet Cecilia, a band featuring Laura Huval, Callie Guidry and Maegan Berard.  They sounded great, with sweet harmonies and, from where I was sitting, it looks like they really enjoy playing together (and when the band is having fun, EVERYONE is having fun!).

When Sean Bruce and his band took the stage, I was ready!  I had downloaded the EP last week, and I already own his debut album "Daytime Hopes", so I was ready!

He opened the show with Queen of England off of his new EP, and it was awesome!  The band was really into it, and the crowd was into it; there was a great vibe in the air.

It was obvious that many in attendance are Sean Bruce fans, as most of the people knew every word to his songs.  The crowd really sang along on his latest song, Louisiana!

This may sound crazy, but I left the building with a renewed love for Acadiana.  There are so many great things about living here, and being able to see two talented LOCAL bands on the same night, not playing the same old cover songs, is very refreshing!
