Thousands of Acadiana residents are without electricity this morning as the effects of the chill cause power outages in parts of the region.

As of 9:20 a.m. Monday, Entergy's outage map shows that more than 6,000 of the company's Acadiana customers are without power. Most of them are in Iberia Parish, where 4,301 customers have lost electricity. Nearly 2,100 Vermilion Parish Entergy customers are also without power.

Cleco is reporting 9,657 customers in Iberia and St. Mary Parishes are without power. Nearly 7,000 of those customers are in or just outside New Iberia city limits. Another 1,350 live between Jeanerette and the Baldwin/Charenton area. Another 1,041 live in the Loreauville area.

SLEMCO says 264 of its customers are without power. Those customers are spread between Vermilion and St. Martin Parishes. That's down from a company high of around 5,000 customers without electricity this morning.
