Another Cold Front Could Impact Louisiana This Spring
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - It's Festival season in Louisiana, which traditionally calls for warmer weather, but another cold front may impact the southern region of the country soon.
Since Spring has started, we have had several cool fronts drop into the Deep South, and for cold/cool-weather lovers, we have more great news.
Look, we know how hot it will get this Summer in Louisiana, so are you really upset that we could have nights in the 40s again?
According to a social media post by Meteorologist Zack Fradella, the pattern is shaping up for another strong cold front to reach Louisiana, and this time, we may have to actually take out the large jackets to get to work and school.
I know that many of you say that you cook gumbo year-round in Louisiana, which is hard to believe when heat indices surpass the 100-degree mark, but if this next cold front is as strong as some think it may be, "Gumbo Weather" will certainly be back in Acadiana.
Now, let's look at when this potential cold front could impact Louisiana. According to Fradella's post on social media, this next cold front could impact Louisiana by May 1st. However, I warn you, that's still a ways out and this could and likely will change, but it is something we willl watch in the days ahead.
Until then, keep the gumbo pots on stand-by and don't tuck away the thick jackets and thick blankets for your bed just yet. For some reason, Winter just doesn't want to leave Louisiana, and we winter folks don't mind if the cooler nights stick around for just a few more weeks.
When Does Summer Officially Start
For our Summer loving peoplle in Acadiana, Summer officially starts on Sunday, June 21, 2026. I doubt we'll see cold fronts in the forecast in late June.
