A police officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana was hit by a vehicle Thursday morning while on duty.

According to WAFB, the officer was on Airline Hwy when he was struck while using a radar gun to track down speeders in the area.

The officer was reportedly responsive after the incident and did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Still, police units were seen escorting the ambulance with the officer in it to a nearby hospital.

WAFB reports that the officer was on the side of the road when he was struck and was attempting to flag down someone speeding.

We remind you when you see anyone on the shoulder of the road in Louisiana you are legally responsible for merging over to the next lane if and when you can.
