(Scott, Louisiana) - High School football is full swing across Acadiana, and one police officer in Scott decided to pick up the pom poms and do some cheering for the Wrecking Rams.

A video posted by the school in Lafayette Parish shows the school resource officer joining in on the fun during a recent football game, and it's clear that everyone around him is enjoying the moment as well.

The officer, while on duty protecting those at the game, decided to have some fun with the cheerleaders on the sideline, and we applaud him not only for his skills, but for being a great sport in front of so many fans.

This is really what it's all about: police having fun with those in their community and building trust with those that they protect and serve. This is undoubtedly a moment the officer and cheerleaders will never forget, and that's what it's all about.

Job well done by this officer, and we hope to see more of him and others having fun on the sidelines this football season. I feel like other officers around South Louisiana are on the clock after this performance.
