Old Toys R Us Building In Lafayette Could Become New Toy Store

A new line of toy stores are opening in old Toys R Us buildings throughout the country and there's a good chance Lafayette might make the list.

Party City began opening seasonal Halloween City stores years ago to compete with Spirit Halloween. The company is now targeting empty Toys R Us buildings with a brilliant idea: sell toys where people used to buy toys. Various Toy City stores are open now or will soon open in former TRU sites throughout the U.S. this holiday season. As of now, the only old TRU to become a Toy City is the one in Metairie, but Party City says they'll be adding stores frequently. If these are a success this year, the company may make Toy City stores a permanent thing. We'll hopefully see our old Toys R Us (right by Lafayette's Party City) re - opened this holiday season as a Toy City. We'll keep you updated as more stores are announced.
