Better call delivery tonight, 'cause DiGiorno pizza is recalling nearly 28,000 pounds of frozen pizzas. Seems DiGiorno has a bit of a labeling problem.

Nestle USA Inc. is recalling tons of pizza after a customer found a three-meat pizza inside a box labeled Pepperoni Pizza. The company claims an ingredient in Three-Meat Pizza, known to cause allergies, is NOT stated on the Pepperoni Pizza box.

The allergen is a textured soy protein. Anyone with an allergy to soy should avoid eating GiGiorno's Three-Meat Pizza (which may be in a box labeled Pepperoni Pizza).

DiGiorno Recall Details

  • 27.872 pounds of 26-ounce DiGiorno Pepperoni Crispy Pan Crust Pizzas
  • Best-by date: March 2022 (MAR2022)
  • Lot code: 1181510721
  • Establishment number: EST. 1682A

The production date on the box will be June 30, 2021, by Nation Pizza Product Limited. The pizzas were distributed to retailers nationwide.

Even though there have been no reported adverse reactions to date, the USDA recommends you throw out any Three-Meat Pizza found in a Pepperoni Pizza box. However, if you have no known allergies to soy, the pizza is probably not a threat to your health.

If you have this pizza in your freezer, the USDA recommends you throw it out or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
