National Hurricane Center Monitoring Tropical Wave in Atlantic
The Gulf Coast is bracing for the peak of hurricane season and now the National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather.
While there currently is no threat to the Gulf of Mexico, things could change after the Labor Day holiday, thus you will want to be "Weather Aware" in the days ahead.
The area of disturbed weather will approach the Caribbean in the days ahead and there is a chance that this tropical leave will develop into a storm.
Again, this does not mean that the Gulf Coast will be impacted by a storm in the weeks ahead, but when you're at the peak of hurricane season, you do want to be aware of any potential threat.
As we have said for many years, it is best to have a hurricane plan throughout the season and know where you will evacuate in the event of your area being impacted by a storm.

Meteorologists predict that the Atlantic will become more active in the weeks ahead as this hurricane season was predicted to be one of the most active in modern history. So far, the season has been tame, but again, we are approaching the peak of hurricane season as we enter the month of September.
Hurricane season officially ends on November 30th.
