A line of strong thunderstorms swept through Acadiana early Monday morning, and wind gusts of up to 70 mph were embedded in those storms.

After the storms exited the area, we saw photos of power poles snapped in half, trees on the ground, and roofs damaged in parts of Acadiana. Something else that was impacted by the storms Monday morning was baby birds in trees,

A photo sent to me shows a pile of dead baby birds on the ground, and the person who took the photo says she found just over 50 dead birds in her yard once the storms passed.

Brooke Smith was in her yard after the early morning storms swept through the Basile area, and that is when she started to find the baby birds scattered throughout her yard.

The birds fell from their nests during the strong thunderstorms, and sadly, they died shortly after falling from their nests.

Those who live in the area of Eunice and Basile suspect that a tornado may have been embedded in the storms Monday morning, as there was a lot of structural damage in the area, including power poles snapped in half.

Here's a look at just some of the baby birds Brooke collected in her yard. I should add here that some commenting under the photo on social media reports that they, too, found dead baby birds in their yard this week.
