Photos Show Thunderstorm Damage in Louisiana
(Eunice, Louisiana) - Photos on social media show the damage storms caused as they swept across much of Acadiana early Monday morning.
Before sunrise, storms pushed through the Acadiana region with wind gusts up to 70 mph and large hail. As soon as the storms got into the area, we received multiple reports of power outages, and many came in from the Eunice area.
LSU-E announced that the campus would not open until power was restored Monday morning and Eunice High School announced that any student who missed school on Monday would be excused due to the amount of people without power.
Photos posted on social media show an extensive amount of damage to power poles, homes, and trees near Eunice. Some of the photos that you will see below are from the outskirts of Eunice, just past LSU-E.
There currently aren't any reports of injuries, but you can see that strong winds, and a possible tornado, caused quite a bit of damage Monday morning. I was told by someone in Eunice that the National Weather Service would be in the area to investigate the damage done by the storms.
Here's a look at the damage done in St. Landry Parish.
Here are more photos by Slemco as thousands of people were without power Monday morning. Some of these photos were in the area of Eunice and Iota.
