Fourth Person Arrested In Toddler’s Death (UPDATED)
UPDATE: 24-year-old Markeithon D. Edmond of Lafayette is the fourth suspect arrested in the shooting. Lafayette Police say he has been booked into the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and is awaiting transport to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a charge of Accessory After the Fact.
The investigation continues.
There was a shooting last night on Northern Avenue, and a two-year-old toddler died after being taken to a hospital.
Lafayette Police Corporal Bridgette Dugas says that the child's mother 22-year-old MaKayla Cormier, 18-year-old Antorio Edmond and 22-year-old Nathan Bob were arrested in connection with the child's death.
All three have been booked on one count of negligent homicide in the 2-year-old's death, but no specifics about the circumstances have been given.
She says they will also charge a fourth person for accessory after the fact.
The child was shot at home, taken to a hospital but died.
