Help Needy Senior Citizens with Shoeboxes for Seniors

Many nursing home residents have no family nearby. Some have outlived their children and all their friends. The most needy will not receive a single gift this Christmas. Here's how you can help make the holidays a little brighter for them.

Buy a plastic shoebox or pull one out of your closet. You can even decorate it if you like!

Fill it with the goodies most needed by our most precious elderly citizens. According to our friends at the Cajun Area Agency on Aging, those items include lotions and "smelly good" shampoos and soaps, socks are popular, snacks, puzzle books to keep their minds active, notepads, pens and pencils. (Nothing should be used or homemade because we can't hand that out.)
