What Some in Louisiana Are Adding to The Water During a Crawfish Boil
Crawfish season is here and many in Acadiana have been waiting to take out their pots and boilers.
It seems like many in Louisiana wait for crawfish season as kids wait for the arrival of Christmas, yes, the anticipation is that high.
In recent years we've discussed how some boil crawfish and how cooks seem to have their secret ingredients. We've seen some add onions, oranges, and other odd things to the pot, but now some are adding something to the water once the crawfish are done.
If you've ever attended a crawfish boil you know that once the crawfish are cooked and finished, the pot is left with hot water and a lot of seasoning. So, someone thought that it would be a great idea to take advantage of the seasoned water and add something to it.
A viral video on social media shows a woman dipping a pineapple into the water, once the crawfish are removed, and she then slices it and seasons it. Those who have tried this swear by it, and now for the next crawfish boil I have tempted to try this.
The large fruit that is dipped into the water absorbs the seasoning left behind and the rest is history. Now, I know that this may not be "Breaking News" for some, but I do ask, is there anything else you're dipping into the water once the crawfish are done?
If so, please let us know in the comment section. Now, let's all pray that we have a great crawfish season and that the weather cooperates for the farmers this year, after all, we're ready for some hot crawfish---and pineapple.
