(KTDY) - We asked, and ladies in Acadiana have admitted what they really want for Valentine's Day.

Traditionally, men have given flowers, chocolates, balloons, and even stuffed animals to the women in their lives for Valentine's Day. While some women may still want these, others prefer something else.

Living in the South, we have advantages over other regions of the country, and one of them in Louisiana is our food, including our seafood. How often have you heard visitors to Louisiana say they think we have the best food? I know you've heard it, and we have too.

Recently, we asked women on our station's Facebook page what they really want for Valentine's Day, and the overwhelming response did not surprise us.

While some admitted they still want flowers and chocolates for Valentine's Day, others preferred time alone or time with their loved ones. Then, there were those women who responded with a southern delicacy, and we hope that everyone gets what they want this year on "Lover's Day."

The top response from women in Acadiana about what they want for Valentine's Day was boiled crawfish. Yes, the majority of the women in our area want to either go to a restaurant or have someone prep boiled crawfish for them on Valentine's Day.

Of course, ladies can't have crawfish all year long, but when they can, like you and me, they want to dive into them, and what better time than now at the start of the season and on Valentine's Day?

To the men in Acadiana, here's your lead, and we hope you don't let your loved one down this year. Bring your wife, girlfriend, or fiancée out this year for some boiled crawfish, and they will be more than thankful for it.

To all the women across Louisiana, we hope you have a great Valentine's Day and, most importantly, that you get the hot/spicy boiled crawfish you want. While love may be in the air, we know that the smell of the spices is too.
