This is only a test. On Thursday, March 22, Lafayette Regional Airport will hold a Federal Aviation Administration mandated disaster drill beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. According to FAA Regulations, Lafayette Regional Airport is required to conduct a full-scale plan exercise every three years. The purpose of the drill is to exercise the airport’s emergency plan within a controlled accident scenario and to identify any possible areas requiring additional research and/or coordination.  All the different fire and rescue departments, government agencies, medical personnel and first responders in the area will participate in order to ensure and test their ability to serve the community should an actual incident ever occur. The incident on Thursday, however, is only a test.
