Police are investigating a deadly Friday afternoon shooting that claimed the life of one man in Lafayette.

Lafayette Police have identified the victim in Friday afternoon's fatal shooting as 15-year-old Samuel Miley of Lafayette.
The homicide investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators have not released any additional details at this time.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting in progress around 4:21 p.m. on Friday (July 31), in the 200 block of Sherwood Drive.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lafayette Police Launch Homicide Investigation
The Lafayette Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the case and remains on the scene collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
At this time, investigators have not released the victim's identity or any information about a possible suspect. Authorities also have not said what may have led to the shooting.
