The former Walmart Supercenter building located at 1229 NW Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette, which was previously acquired by Completeful, is back on the market.

Completeful, a drop shipping fulfillment service, purchased the shuttered Walmart property back in 2021, as noted in this report from The Advocate.

A source tells us that complications related to building code during the inspection process may have prevented the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) from securing a portion of the building as its permanent warehouse in late 2022. This development followed a report from the Daily Advertiser, which hinted at LPSS's interest in the property.

The building, spanning a gross area of 228,569 SF on 24.59 acres of land, is now listed on the LACDB.com website as a light manufacturing warehouse and distribution data hosting. Details from the listing highlight features such as its Opportunity Zone location, fiber Gigabit internet connectivity, and 100,000 square feet available. Completeful occupies the other 128,000 square feet.

The total price stands at $6,000,000 with sale terms as cash to the seller.

The former Walmart location holds significant importance to the local community. The acquisition by Completeful was initially celebrated as a landmark investment for north Lafayette, a region that experienced considerable disinvestment in recent years. Completeful's ambitious plans included expanding their daily order capacity from 5,000 to 30,000 and fulfilling over 1 million orders annually.

At the time, City Councilman Glenn Lazard had commented on the acquisition, "This project will be a game-changer for north Lafayette and the city as a whole."
