Louisiana Ticket Wins Big in Wednesday’s Powerball Drawing
(Baton Rouge, LA) Scientists who study statistics and numbers at LSU in Baton Rouge will tell you that if something happens repeatedly, it stops being thought of as a coincidence and the mindset transitions to thinking of those occurrences as a trend.
Well, in Louisiana, in regard to the Powerball Lottery game, we have a trend. A Louisiana-sold ticket is once again a big winner in the multi-state lottery game.

Louisiana first joined the Powerball party in March of 1995. Since then, the Louisiana Lottery has confirmed several big wins in the state, including 10 times when a Louisiana-sold Powerball ticket matched all the numbers needed to claim the game's jackpot prize.
Has the Powerball Jackpot Ever Been Won By a Louisiana-sold Ticket?
The most recent Powerball jackpot wins in Louisiana were attributed to tickets sold in Lafayette in 2018 for a total win of $55.9 million and a prize won by a ticket sold in Eunice, Louisiana, back in 2013 that earned a prize of $191.1 million. Which, by the way, is the largest Powerball prize ever won by a Louisiana-sold ticket.
Here is how the Powerball drawing for July 23, 2025, played out:
The estimated annuitized jackpot amount for Wednesday's Powerball drawing was $326.1 million. No tickets sold across the Powerball footprint matched the numbers needed to claim that jackpot prize.
There was a Match 5 Million winner sold in Georgia. Not only did that ticket holder match all five of the white balls, missing only the Powerball, but they opted in on the Power Play function of the game. That means their total prize on Wednesday was a cool $2 million.
The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that a ticket sold in the state missed being a jackpot winner by just one number. The ticket's purchaser matched four of five white balls and the Powerball. By rule, that prize is listed as a $50,000 win. But because the player opted in on the Power Play function, their ticket will be worth $150,000.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's other draw games hosted by the Louisiana Lottery, there was no jackpot winner in Lotto. That game's jackpot will climb to $1.35 million for Saturday's drawing.
The Easy 5 game also held a drawing on Wednesday night. That game did not get a jackpot winner either. The top prize on Saturday in Easy 5 will be an estimated $160,000.

How Much are the Mega Millions and Powerball Lottery Jackpots?
Friday's Mega Millions game will feature an estimated annuitized top prize of $120 million, and when Powerball draws again on Saturday, game officials estimate the annuitized jackpot will be in excess of $350 million, or if the winner chooses the lump sum payment option, their total prize would be an estimated $156.5 million.
