Louisiana Department of Wildlife Reveals Deer Season Details for 2025-2026
(KMDL-FM) It has been well documented that the outdoor lifestyle is a preferred lifestyle here in Louisiana. Granted, we don't like to be outdoors in Henderson, Haughton, and Houma during the heat of the summer. But we will get outdoors in Bastrop, Baskin, and Breaux Bridge when the weather cools off.
Cooler weather, although it might seem like it's a million miles away, is only a couple of months away here in Louisiana. It won't be too much longer until we'll be packing up the swimsuits and preparing for Friday Night Lights on the football field, and Saturday excursions to our favorite hunting camp.

And I am sure as you ponder those examples, you're probably wondering to yourself, when does football season start, and when does hunting season start? We just happen to know where you can find the answers to all of those questions.
When Does Deer Season Start in Louisiana in 2025?
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife has recently released for online use their Hunting Rules, Regulations, and Season Schedules for 2025-2026 on the LWF website. This online document contains just about everything an accomplished outdoorsman would need to know for getting outdoors in Louisiana this fall.
The pamphlet, which is currently available online only, details the season schedules for the state's 10 deer hunting areas. It also outlines major changes outdoorsmen can expect for the 2025-2026 hunting season.

If you'd like to have a printed copy of the pamphlet, hard copies will be available at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife Offices in August. You can also pick up a copy of this important information at many hunting and outdoors retailers across the state. The pamphlet is generally available wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold.
We should note that the information contained in this publication from LDWF is not limited to just deer hunting. It covers all aspects of hunting in the state, including waterfowl and turkey seasons.
The information is broken down by season and by geographic regions of the state, making it easy for outdoor lovers to reference the information they need efficiently and quickly. The publication is free online and is free at the physical locations we described earlier in this article, but please remember that the hard copies of the information won't be available for a few more weeks.
