Ingrown Toenail Tool Looks Barbaric

As of late, Facebook has been putting some interesting ads on my timeline. Take this barbaric-looking ingrown toenail treatment tool, for exampla.

Functioning like a wheel/pulley puller, the tool grabs the sides of the nail and pulls them up while pushing down on the top of the nail. Watch the video below for a demonstration (unless you've eaten in the past 12 hours):

In the video I can see how the tool would (eventually) be an effective method for treating an ingrown nail.  I can also see how, alongside waterboarding, congress might want to make the use of these tools illegal!

It just look like "ouch".
