The Indycar Series comes to Louisiana in 2015. It was confirmed earlier this spring, Indycar intended to bring a race to the New Orleans area next year.  The official announcement was made Wednesday at NOLA Motorsports Park, which will host the event. The inaugural Grand Prix of Louisiana will be held the weekend of April 10th-12th. Those dates coincide with the French Quarter Festival. AP reports, Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne joined Indycar President Mark Miles for the announcement.

"We want to be in cities that are compelling for our sponsors and our fans and New Orleans has that kind of reputation. Everybody knows New Orleans is that kind of place and people want to be here for fun.”   -Mark Miles, Indycar President

The agreement is reportedly a three year commitment.
