Golf Tournament to Honor Late Lafayette Firefighter Coming to New Iberia in March
A charity golf tournament, held in memory of a Lafayette firefighter, is headed back to New Iberia for its second year.
Alex Bourque was a firefighter with both the Lafayette Fire Department and the Broussard Fire Department. He passed away in May of last year after having been diagnosed with bone cancer in 2021.
Last year's tournament's initial goal was to raise money for Bourque's family as he was in treatment and, now that he has passed on, the tournament raises money for other worthy causes that his family is passionate about.
The Alex Bourque Memorial Tournament will be held on March 18, 2023, at Cane Row Golf Club in New Iberia.
The golf tournament will run in conjunction with an "anything goes" Black Pot Cookoff, and proceeds will go to perpetuating the tournament and charitable causes.
If you have questions about the event or sponsorships or entries into the tournament and cookoff, you can contact Clebe Stutes (337) 257 4775, or email

Last year's event saw over 30 teams participate in the golf tournament, raising over $19,000 for Bourque's family, as he left behind a wife and two young children.
