Popular Food Mart in Lafayette Announces Closure and Sale

(Lafayette, Louisiana) - A popular food mart in the Lafayette/Scott area has announced on social media that they are closing.

Acadian Food Mart, which is located on Congress and Rue Du Belier, has annoucned on social media that all contents in the building are for sale, and the building itself is even up for sale.

According to the Facebook post, the building is for sale for $50,000, and it willl have to be moved off the property.

As for the building's contents, everything is for sale. If you are interested in anything in the store, you will have to pick it up yourself, as the owners say they will not deliver.

The popular store has been part of the Lafayette/Scott community for many years, and, like so many of our locally owned stores, it has regular customers it will miss.

Many are asking why the store is closing all of a sudden, and in the post, the store announced it is closing due to "unforeseen circumstances."

I did read the comments under this unfortunate announcement, and it was stated that the property was sold and that the new owners want the building/store removed from the property at the busy intersection.

It will be interesting to see what develops at this location, and once we know, we will share it with you here.
