Seven Businesses Lafayette Would Love to See at Ambassador and Johnston
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - I was recently stopped in traffic when I looked over at the building that was once the home of Tokyo Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar, and I asked myself what should now occupy this prime real estate in Lafayette.
While I have my own ideas and opinions, I thought it would be interesting to ask listeners on our social media page, and I tallied the responses.
Many of you responded to my question about what should replace Tokyo Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar, so I will highlight your ideas here.
- Culver's ranks 7th. Known for its ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard, some of you might love seeing this casual restaurant chain in the heart of Lafayette.
- In-N-Out Burger ranked next. Many in our community have been waiting for this burger joint to show up, and this could be a prime location for the popular chain.
- TJ Ribs ranked 5th. With locations in Baton Rouge, many know the ribs, steaks, and other items are delicious; add some Cajun memorabilia, and this could be a "hit" at this busy Lafayette intersection.
- Pancho's Mexican Buffet ranked 4th in the responses. With locations in Texas, many have experienced the atmosphere and food here, and this isn't a bad idea. And yes, we know there are many Mexican restaurants in Lafayette. What's one more good one?
- A car wash made the Top 3 in responses, and I won't take that one seriously. Like restaurants, we have plenty of car washes, and I think most people who suggested another car wash in Lafayette were being funny. Sorry, but we don't have another car wash where Tokyo used to be.
- P.F. Chang's ranked #2 on the list of businesses we'd like to have at Ambassador and Johnston St. For years, people who've visited the Baton Rouge restaurant have dreamed of one opening in Lafayette, and we're still waiting. But yes, this would be the ideal spot for P.F. Chang's in Lafayette. Who do we call?
- Bennigan's was the top response when you asked what should occupy the building at Ambassador and Johnston St. Yes, Lafayette misses Bennigan's and the Barney Blast, so why not let it return to its original address in Lafayette? Great idea.
Now that we have put the list out there, let's see if word gets out and if one of these ideas or suggestions comes through. Personally, I'd love to see P.F. Chang's in Lafayette, and this would be a prime location.
