Escaped Emu From Duson Adopted and On Way to New Home
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - The Emu that was on the run in Duson a few days ago is heading to its new home, where it should have plenty of space to run again.
As we previously reported, the Duson Police Department responded to a call about an Emu on the loose, and, with assistance from Lafayette Animal Aid, the large bird was contained and relocated.
The large bird was taken to Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center, where it awaited its owner's claim, and sadly, that never happened.
So, the shelter announced that if no one claimed the bird or came by the facility to adopt it, the Emu would have to be on its way, and now it is.
According to a social media post by Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center, the Emu that was once on the loose in Duson is now heading to Dixon Exotics. A man named Conner went to the facility and adopted the Emu, which was apparently named Kevin, and their first photo together is great.
As you will see below, Connot and Kevin seem to already be getting along, and unlike many of us, Connor seems to know how to handle these massive birds that can run up to 30 mph.
Where Is Dixon Exotics
Dixon Exotics LLC is located in Boerne, Texas, and it's an exotic animal facility. While they are known for housing reptiles and many turtles, they occasionally work with animal shelters to adopt and house displaced exotic animals.
We hope "Kevin" fits in and feels at home quickly, and we are certain that he is now in good hands. Let's just hope Kevin is never pursued by the police again.
