Britney Spears has seen her share of ups & downs over her nearly 20 year career. That's not unusual in show business. The fact that she's lasted nearly 20 years IS unusual for a female pop star. The Kentwood, Louisiana native first charted with "Hit Me, Baby One More Time" in 1999. She was 17. Now, 35, she's been through two marital disasters, and a lot of public scrutiny. There have been persistent accusations that she doesn't sing live while onstage. An interviewer asked Britney about it while she was preparing for a recent appearance on Israeli TV. Eonline reports, she didn't mince words, saying, "It really pisses me off because I am busting my ass out there and singing at the same time and nobody ever really gives me credit for it." The singer went on to say her performances are a prerecorded tracks, and singing live.

"A lot of people think that I don't do live. I usually—because I'm dancing so much–I do have a little bit of playback but there's a mixture of my voice and the playback."                 - Britney Spears

She's not trying to fool anybody. That sets her apart from Milli Vanilli.
