Mailboxes are supposed to have junk mail, weekly flyers, bills and that occasional birthday card right?  Well not if you live in Judice, La.!

I never know what I'm going to find in the yard, especially the backyard which is about 30 feet from a crawfish pond.  I see lots of frogs, hummingbirds, an occasional snake and of course lots of crawfish come to visit.  But I never thought the critters would move into my mailbox.

A few weeks back, I went to the mailbox in the front yard, not an address I ever give out as I keep a main mailbox at the post office.  Most of what comes to the house is junk mail so I don't check it daily.  It was a beautiful day after a night of heavy rain, I go to open up the door to the box and something flies out from underneath, scared me BAD.  I assumed it was a bird, but you really never know in Judice.  It kinda looked like a redbird, but it was so fast, I didn't get a good look at it.

I never looked in the open compartment underneath the mailbox to see if anything was there.  I just thought the bird had found protection from the severe rain the night before and got startled when it saw me.

A few days ago, I thought I might should check the mail at the house since it had been about a week.  But this time, I was cautious.  Nothing flew out at me this time, but I sure did find more than just mail.
