Animal Shelter Will Hold ‘Indoguration’ to Honor Rescue

In the middle of chaos and controversy comes a story that has us waggin' our tails with delight. Whether you voted for Biden-Harris or not, it will be nice to see that once again pets are making a return to the White House. President-Elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill have two German shepherds, Champ and Major. And Major has a pretty cool back story to tell. He'll be the first rescue dog who went from a shelter to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Major and his siblings were dropped off at the Delaware Humane Association shelter in 2018, and the organization posted on their Facebook page that they were looking for fur-ever homes for the pups, who had been nursed back to health after apparently getting into some kind of toxic substances. They had been very sick. According to NPR, Biden's daughter Ashley saw the post and alerted her father, who showed up in person to adopt one of the puppies.

And in honor of that, Major's former home, the Delaware Humane Association, will hold a virtual "Indoguration" this Sunday, January 17th. The event will be held from 3:00 pm-4:00 pm EST is open to pets and their humans. It will be a benefit for the Association, and all the good works they do. They are asking for a $10 donation to watch the event, which will be hosted by Pumpkin Pet Insurance and the TODAY Show's Jill Martin. You can also Zoom in with your own pets to add to the fun.
