Nearly five million Americans may be driving cars equipped with airbags that could explode sending dangerous shrapnel throughout the vehicle interior. The LA Times reports the NHTSA has issued a warning that 4.7 million vehicles, built in the early 2000's may have defective inflators. The warning includes vehicles built by Honda, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Mazda, and GM between 2000 and 2005. Click here for a complete list. Owners of these vehicles are being urged to take their cars to a dealer ASAP. The warning also states the risk is heightened in regions where high humidity is commonplace.
