Carnival season officially starts on Twelfth Night, which is January 6th. And if you love to zip over to New Orleans for a couple of parades during Mardi Gras, then here is your chance to see what' we've got to look forward to for the fun this year.

NOLA.com has a comprehensive parade guide, and it includes those that will kick off on January 6th, and ends up on Fat Tuesday, which is February 25th this year. 74 parades are scheduled to roll in the New Orleans area, including The Societé des Champs Elysée, which has to adjust their route because of the Hard Rock Hotel collapse on Canal/Rampart streets. The first parades to roll on Tuesday, January 6th are listed below, but be sure to check out your favorites in the Mardi Gras guide. Have a happy and safe carnival season, y'all! Check out a couple of my favorite parades in the videos below.

January 6th:

  • Joan of Arc, French Quarter 7:00 pm
  • Phunny Phorty Phellows, St. Charles Avenue Streetcar route 7:00 pm
  • Funky Uptown Krewe, St Charles Avenue Streetcar route 7:05 pm
  • Societé des Champs Elysée, strolling along the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar route
