(New Orleans, Louisiana) - Summer isn't even here, and one man has jumped into the Mississippi River to cool down.

Like many of you, I love a nice dip in the Gulf or pool on a warm South Louisiana day, but one place that I'd never dive into to cool down is the Mississippi River.

We've all driven across the river, and we know the magnitude of it, but there are also a few other reasons as to why I'd elect NOT to swim in the Mississippi River.

Why is it not safe to Swim in the Mississippi River

It is often deemed not safe to swim in the Mississippi River because of the high levels of bacteria in the water (E. coli), strong and unpredictable currents, and submerged debris.

According to the Friends of the Mississippi, there have been great strides in recent years to clean up the river, but if you are in Louisiana, where the mouth of the Mississippi resides, much of the country's pollution just streams southward.

Well, I don't know if this man knows the risks, but he sure seemed to be enjoying himself while he sat in the water, near the shore of the Mississippi River.

A viral video shows this man just sitting in the water as you or I would in the Gulf in Destin, Florida, but again, he is in the Mississippi River, and he seems to have no issue with it.

Disclaimer, as hot as it may be this summer, we do not advise you to take a dip in this river, you may want to select a less dangerous place when it comes to cooling off this summer.

Now, let's get to the video from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Here's a quick history lesson on the Mighty Mississippi, which is quite interesting.
