You have probably experienced it before and may again this year, the dreaded bad gift.  So what does one do?  How should the receiver of a bad gift act?  Especially if the whole family's watching?

Fake it and pretend to like it.  That is the best way to react.  Don't go overboard, and don't underplay it.  Just act like you would if it were a gift you liked.  That what 40% in a survey said they'd do.

The survey also found that the average bad gift costs about $68.  That men had ugly ties, Christmas sweaters and funny socks.  And women hate to receive diet books, some Christmas ornaments and gift certificates for plastic surgery.  Some of these may sound like strange Christmas gifts, but you know if these were mentioned, it's because someone received them.

Interestingly, 25% of people admit to buying someone a gift that they knew the person probably wouldn't like.
