When I heard of Dick Clark's passing, I have to admit that I was upset.  When I first announced his death on the air, my voice quivered a bit.  I didn't know that I was going to react that way when he died; I think that my reaction is testament to how large an impact he had on my life.

No better way to honor the legendary Dick Clark than with Barry Manilow singing 'Bandstand Boogie' live at the piano.  We are losing all the greats, Dick Clark leaves behind a broadcasting footprint like no other.

I just got hit by a freight train! My friend & longtime colleague, Jaycee, just walked across the hall to inform me of the death of Dick Clark.  I never had the privilege of meeting him, but Dick Clark has been a role model and an icon to me since childhood. I used to watch American Bandstand religiously as a boy.  I've always admired the way he did his job without making it look like a job.  

Dick Clark passed away today at the age of 82.  Thank you, Dick Clark, for bringing  music into our homes, our lives, and our hearts.
