Spread The Special Word

Special Olympics Louisiana, Best Buddies International, and other organizations attempting to raise consciousness in Louisiana about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word 'retard(ed)' through the ‘Spread the Word to End the Word’ campaign on March 4, 2014. The nationwide initiative is designed to engage schools, organizations and communities to rally together and pledge their support at www.r-word.org with a goal of reaching 100,000 pledges.

The 'R-word' has found common use in today’s society, but hurts even if not directed at someone with intellectual disabilities.
