Check the jar before you make that sandwich! A recall of peanut and almond butter has been issued by the Food and Drug Administration. The problem is possible salmonella contamination. More than 5000 stores sold the potentially dangerous products under the brand names Arrowhead Mills and MaraNatha as well as store brands. The stores involved are Kroger, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. The FDA says, "Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. Instead, consumers are urged to dispose of the recalled product and its container. Please contact the Company at 1-800-937-7008 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM CST for a replacement or refund, and with general inquiries." The nut butters were sold across the U.S. and Canada as well as on the internet, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, and the Dominican Republic.
