Lafayette Public Works Announces Mardi Gras Schedule
The Lafayette Consolidated Government Public Works Department has announced its work schedule and route changes in lieu of the start of Mardi Gras activities next week.
**Route change: All parades will end at Gate 2 at Cajun Field, 650’ longer along N. College.
Work Schedule:
Thursday, February 5 – 8:00 am – Public Works crews will place barricades at the beginning of the parade route (Downtown area). They begin at Jefferson/Simcoe St. intersection and place along the route to the intersection of Johnston/Vermilion St.
Friday, February 6 – 8:00 am – crews resume placing barricades from the Johnston/Vermilion St. intersection along Johnston St. to N. College (Albertson's shopping center), then along N. College to the Cajun Field entrance at Gate 2 (approximately 650’ past Reinhardt Dr. towards Congress St.). Barricades will be placed to allow for “turn lanes” and major cross-overs along Johnston St. and N. College.
Saturday, February 7 – 6:30 pm – crews will move the barricades to the sides of the road and clean up litter and debris along the entire parade route.
Thursday, February 12 – 8:00 am – crews will place barricades from the sides of the road back along the “Downtown” parade route up to Johnston St.
Friday, February 13 – 8:00 am – crews will place barricades from the sides of the road back along the “Johnston St. /N. College” parade route to Cajun Field at Gate 2 entrance.
Saturday, February 14 – 6:30 pm – crews will clean up litter and debris along the parade route. Barricades remain in place.
Tuesday, February 17 – MARDI GRAS DAY – 2:00 pm – crews will move barricades along the route to the sides of the roads.
Tuesday, February 17 – 11:00 pm until – crews will clean up litter and debris along the parade route and adjacent areas.
Wednesday, February 18 – There will be no work by Public Works crews.
Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20 – 7:00 am – crews will pick up barricades from the Mardi Gras route and return to the Public Works yard on Dorset Avenue.
