Local Guilbeaux family battle over Southside Bakery location and like many in this community, I am heartbroken.

I debated whether or not to blog about this, and decided since this very private family ordeal has hit the media and since I have been asked for comments, I felt compelled to chime in.

As many of you know from listening to the morning show on KTDY, I have had a wonderful relationship with the Guilbeaux family.  The entire family has always been exceptionally nice to my family and me.  At times, the Guilbeaux's have been like my extended family.

I am so saddened by this ordeal, I can't begin to put my feelings into words.  The fact that this has hit media outlets, just sickens me.  This very private family matter should not be played out on radio, television and in newspapers.

There is not a perfect family on this Earth, not yours, not mine, not the Guilbeaux's.  But I do know from experience, bumps and bruises can be worked out through calm, civil and collected communication no matter how difficult the situation.  I feel incredible sorrow for the entire family but in particular for the wife and Mother caught in the middle of it all.

I hope that someone from the family sees this.  I'd love to get everyone in a room so that everyone could talk, share, cry, forgive and start loving again.  No matter how angry someone is, love is always just beneath the surface and it will prevail.  Sometimes it just needs a little help getting to the surface.

Not long ago, when I thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel for me, I went to visit Sammy Guilbeaux.  He gave me a cross that day.  He said to me, "My boy, you'll be alright."  I keep that cross in my car, I see it every time I get behind the wheel which is just about everyday of my life.

Sammy, being the leader you are, I know you can do anything you put your mind to.  Prayer and Faith can and will fix this...but only you can do it.

Much love to the Guilbeaux's during this very difficult time.
