Among those injured in the shooting at the Grand Theater in Lafayette on Thursday (July 23, 2015) were two teachers who are members of the Iberia Area of Educators. Jena Meaux and Ali Martin were in the theater at the time of the shooting. Stories of heroism and selfless acts are coming out, and these two women are part of those stories. One of these amazing ladies put herself in harm's way by moving between the other teacher and the shooter. Then, the action of pulling the fire alarm allowed first-responders to arrive on the scene early, preventing the shooter from escaping and ultimately taking his own life.

During this time, people have asked what they can do to help. With all the questions of why this happened that may or may not get answered, there's an urge to do anything to be a part of the recovery process. One way you can help is to donate money to assist victims of the shooting.

A Go Fund Me page has been created by educators and friends of the two heroic teachers involved in the tragic shootings last night at the Grand Theater in Lafayette LA. Here's the link.
