James Wing made the discovery.

"I came here this morning and saw birds all over the ground. One of them fell when I was walking around the property. I thought maybe it was West Nile. It was the first thing that popped in my head because they say, you see a dead bird you think it's West Nile."

A state biologist  was called in to investigate.   About 30 of the dead birds were collected for testing in Baton Rouge.

Despite all the stormy and unusual weather, The  Wildlife and Fisheries                                biologist says the recent inclement weather was probably not a factor in the deaths. They're anticipating test results to provide a clue by Thursday.
