WWII Veterans Tribute Tour This Tuesday
American Legion Post 69 is the load-up site for the WWII Veteran's Tribute Tour this Tuesday: buses will be taking WWII veterans to the D-Day Museum in New Orleans, free of charge!
Many Acadiana veterans have fought in strategic battles of WW II, in every branch of service, in places all over the world: Pearl Harbor, Iwo Jima, The Battle of the Bulge, Midway, Omaha Beach and many more.
Their assignments included Military Intelligence, infantry, Bomber squadrons, tail gunner and munitions. One of the veterans is a former Prisoner of War. America owes a debt of gratitude to these noble men, as without them the war could not have been won.
The American Legion is the departure point for the Tribute Tour, bringing these deserving veterans to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Departure time is Tuesday, November 18, at 0730. Lunch will be included, and the bus(es) are expected to return at 1730. American Legion Post 69 is located at 1501 Surrey Street in Lafayette, just down from the airport. There will be a reception to follow, dubbed "The Homecoming", hosted by American Legion Post 69.
