The first time I heard Journey, I was blown away, sat back & simply said, "WOW!!" They were formed in San Francisco about five previous by former members of Santana & The Steve Miller Band. Their first three albums didn't sell. Then they added a dynamic frontman named Steve Perry. They've since sold over 80 million albums. While they were experiencing tremendous commercial success, tensions between Steve and the rest of the band smoldered. Founder Neal Schon decided to continue without him in the late 90's. They tried several singers over the following decade, experiencing little success until adding Arnel Pineda. Their next album sold 5 million copies without being backed by a record company. Journey is reportedly planning  a 40th anniversary concert at AT&T Park in their hometown of San Franciso.  Keyboardist Jonathan Cain commented, “I can’t really say much right now, but if we can get that to happen, that would be” also a tribute the late Bill Graham, concert promoter & proprietor of the legendary Fillmore West. He added, “Bill really was a big supporter of Journey…” When asked about ''former members'' joining them onstage, Jonathan replied,“that could be…”
They were scheduled to appear in Lafayette last summer, but a combination of a hurricane & illness prevented the show from happening.  When I spoke with Jonathan. He bristled at the mentioned of unnamed former members.
