Why Are Majority Of Nail Technicians Asian? Because Of An Actress.

According to Takepart.com, Tippi Hedren is responsible for the majority of the nail technicians being Asian in America.

According to the story, Hedren (star of Hitchcock's "The Birds") visited a Vietnamese refuge camp in Northern California, in efforts of helping the women there find skills to help make them marketable.  The women had fled the atrocities of Vietnam, coming to America to start new lives in the Land of Freedom.

As the women greeted Hedren, they all marveled at her manicure, saying it was so pretty.  This gave Hedren the idea to have them trained in nail care, and the rest is history!
